The final sees face at Wembley Stadium today. The Eagles, who have not won a major competition in their history, face a City side seeking to end an underwhelming season with a customary trophy.

Both sides have enjoyed improved runs of form over recent weeks. Palace's 2-0 victory over Tottenham last weekend means they have equalled their record points tally for a Premier League season. City, who are fourth, remain on course to secure Champions League qualification despite some disappointing results this term.

The chance to win a trophy presents a potentially special moment for both clubs. However, there are also financial rewards for winning the FA Cup.

Palace or City will walk up the famous Wembley steps to collect the trophy on Saturday evening. And they will earn a small windfall in the process.

The FA Cup winners receive £2million. The losers take home £1m. However, that is not the only money they will have received during their respective runs in the competition.

Both clubs earned £1m for winning their semi-final ties. Quarter-final victors banked £450,000, while those who won in the fifth round were handed £225k. There was £120k up for grabs for winning in the fourth round, while the third round - the stage in which Palace and City entered - offered winners £115k.

Palace have lost two previous finals, both to Manchester United in 2016 and 1990. City lost last year's final against rivals United, but were victorious the year prior. They have won the FA Cup seven times in their history, including twice under Pep Guardiola.

The FA Cup final takes place today at Wembley Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 4.30pm. The BBC are said to have wanted an earlier start to the game over fears that it could clash with Eurovision, which takes place in the evening.

Last year's final, in which United beat City 2-1 at the national stadium, kicked off at 3pm. The FA Cup kick-off time is agreed in tandem between the Football Association, the two clubs, broadcasters, local authorities, police, and the Safety Advisory Group.
