DPL 2025 Press Release: Cricket celebrations are returning once again in the capital Delhi. The second season of Delhi Premier League (DPL) is going to start from August 2. The first match of the men’s category will be played with the opening ceremony, while the final will be held on August 31 at the prestigious Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The Delhi Premier League has issued a press release and shared all the information to this season. Reserve Day has been kept on 1 September in the event of the match being interrupted due to rain or any other reason. Let us tell you all the important things to this league.

A total of 12 teams in DPL season 2

This season, 8 teams will participate in the male category and 4 in the female category. The focus of the organizers will be on competitive balance, opportunity to new talents and fan engagement. The men’s teams are divided into two groups. The Group A features Outer Delhi Warriors, Central Delhi Kings, New Delhi Tigers, North Delhi Strikers and Group B. Group B in Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders, South Delhi Superstar, Old Delhi.

DPL 2025 Male League format

A total of 40 matches will be played in the men’s category. Each team will play home and two each against 3 teams of their group and one match with four teams of other groups. In this way, every team will play a total of 10 matches.

Top-4 teams will reach the playoffs. Top-2 teams will clash in Qualifier 1, whose winner will directly reach the finals. Teams from third and fourth place will hit the eliminator. The winner of the eliminator will then play with a lost team of Qualifier-1 in Qualifier-2. The team that wins will reach the final.

DPL Women’s League from 17 to 24 August

The women DPL will be held between August 17 and August 24, in which 4 teams will participate. A total of 6 matches will be played in the Round Robin format and the top-2 teams will make it to the finals directly. This platform will be a great opportunity for young women cricketers to prove themselves.

DDCA president Rohan Jaitley said a big thing

Prior to the tournament, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley said, “The second season of DPL is going to take domestic franchise cricket to new heights in Delhi. New formats and two new male teams will join the joining will increase competition and adventure. The women’s league will also strengthen and this plate will work to give new identity to the women players of Delhi.
