Introduction of the New Vande Bharat Train
Maharashtra is set to introduce the longest Vande Bharat train in India, which will operate between Ajni in Nagpur and Pune. This will mark the state's twelfth Vande Bharat train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate this semi-high-speed train on August 10. The Central Railway (CR) zone will be responsible for its operation and maintenance.
Covering a distance of 881 kilometers, this train will become the longest-running train in India. It will have ten stops along its route and maintain an average speed of 73 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest train between Nagpur and Pune. The Pune-Ajni-Pune Vande Bharat Express, designated as train number 26101/26102, will commence regular services from Pune station on August 11 and from Ajni station on August 12. The train will operate six days a week.
This new train service is expected to significantly enhance travel convenience for passengers, allowing them to traverse the state more easily. It will also benefit traders, students, and employees who frequently travel for job opportunities. The train will make stops at key stations including Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Shegaon, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahmednagar, and Daund. It will consist of eight coaches, featuring one Executive Chair Car (EC) and seven Standard Chair Cars (CC), accommodating a total of 590 passengers.
